Micro bag trend - are our bags shrinking?

Mini bags have been seen on the catwalk throughout the years and favoured by the likes of Kim Kardashian West and Rihanna (see above); but none are as tiny as Jacquemus recent release. The miniature 3 top handle purse is one of the worlds smallest bags; as seen here on Chiarra Ferragni (the bag would most likely hold a single tick tac) but oh well.. because FASHION right?!
Known as the Le Sac Chiquito, it has been met with adoration from all over. It's cute, trendy and highly instagrammable, making it an instant hit. After this release, Jacquemus outdid himself and released a "mini chiquito" which was just a wee 2 inches in height. We shall no longer refer to this as a handbag, but a fingerbag..
Although receiving the most attention, Jacquemus isn't the first to toil with the micro bag. Erdem, Garbiela Hearst, Givenchy and Marc Jacobs to name a few are all brands who showcased micro bags on the catwalk in 2019.
"Out came a minuscule cross-body at Givenchy, cute purses with loop handles were slung around the wrists of models at Marc Jacobs, ornamental little lunch boxes were seen at Versace, and the strap of a teeny-tiny pouch was laced all the way up a model’s arm at Maryam Nassir Zadeh."- Andrea Cheng, 2019
Priced in at a casual £500, this micro bag is soon becoming one of this seasons hottest accessories. Question is, will you be buying one?
