UNIQLO exhibition: The art and science of LifeWear

Global apparel Japenese retailer, UNIQLO, are hosting a special exhibition this week (17th-22nd September) at Somerset House, London, entitled, The Art and Science of LifeWear: New Form Follows Function. In 2001, UNIQLO opened their first store that wasn't in Japan, in London, making it the perfect home for this project. The event is a large-scale immersive experience that showcases LifeWear from three perspectives, Art, Science and Craftsmanship.
What is LifeWear?
What to expect
Don't go to this event expecting to see clothing on rails, this exhibition is anything but your average pop up with a sensory walk through a fabric tunnel, a balloon room and lamps made from socks! Yes, you did read that correctly. Enter the dark room to see lamps made from socks in 50 different colours softly lighting the space. The room is also walled with mirrors making it appear that the sock lamps go on forever.
The exhibition is a scene of colourful technology, fabric mazes and information. The different zones show UNIQLO’s innovation and impressive sustainability. If you visit the event you are also able to buy exclusive collaboration items that are on sale at the pop-up store.
A fun exhibition showcasing science and creativity, and not to be missed if you are in the area.
