WEARESOTT.COM combines our extensive knowledge from 45 years of experience buying and selling pre-owned luxury via both Sign of the Times in Chelsea and Timpanys in Berkshire. We are experts in authentication and valuation of designer goods.
SOTT selects only the most desirable pieces. If we don't think we can sell it, we'll be honest with you. SOTT offers a higher quality alternative to marketplaces... our sellers don't have to take their own photographs, liaise with buyers or ship to the customer. From collection to delivery, we remove the hassle.
CHELSEA STORE OPENS.
Sign of the Times opened its doors on Chelsea Green and was originally conceived to sell clothes belonging to celebrities of the day. The store soon became a go-to for the fashionable elite with celebrity clients arriving from far and wide to shop our edit.
It was Lorraine's time at the helm of SOTT that solidified its position at the forefront of the preloved market long before it became fashionable. Originally the store was at number 17, in 2014 she expanded and moved a few doors down to the store we still stand in today.
Our store manager has worked with us for 20 years having trained in a number of luxury fashion houses. Her in-depth knowledge of all the designer labels and her dedication to fantastic customer service means she embodies all that SOTT stands for. Learn more about Claudine and the team here.
Lorraine kindly agreed that Antonia, an admirer of Sign of the Times, could learn the ropes. Antonia was keen to start her own pre-owned business with a vision to democratise luxury fashion and reduce over-consumption.
TIMPANYS IS BORN.
After studying Economics at Bath University, and training under Lorraine at SOTT Antonia set up a store of her own in Berkshire in 2009. Timpanys went from strength to strength, building up a loyal customer base in the 'Timps Tribe'.
Spreading the love worldwide, 2015 saw our first international sale via our online store. Timpanys now had customers on four continents.
Timpanys received investment from Jo, a fellow female founder and Antonia's mentor of 3 years. This facilitated the acquisition of Sign of the Times, very aptly bringing Antonia's pre-owned retail journey full circle.
Having been part of THE OUTNET founding team during her ten years at NET-A-PORTER, Susie's ecommerce experience combined with her passion for second-hand retail made her the ideal choice to head up our Ecommerce team and build our new website.
With experience across the fashion and tech industries, Devon joined as Head of Marketing to lead and execute our growth marketing strategy. She joined after working in marketing, partnerships and strategic initiatives at The RealReal, the largest authenticated luxury consignment marketplace in the U.S.
