I mostly work weekends, taking product photography, uploading content, keeping the website up to date and chatting with you all on Instagram. Sometimes I’m out and about in the shop as an extra pair of hands, it’s a fun and busy place and I enjoy doing a little bit of everything!
I trained in musical theatre, but with recent world events I decided I needed a career change. I have always loved fashion, and for years have been styling and creating looks for family and friends. I’m an artist at heart, and my sketchbook is full of gowns and suits that someday I hope to have as part of my own clothing line “Maison Doar”. The store has given me a place to learn, experience the field I love so much, and work alongside some amazing gals who share my passion!
IF YOU COULD ONLY WEAR ONE DESIGNER HEAD TO TOE?
Isabel Marant- we get so much in store and there isn’t a single piece of hers that I don’t fall in love with!
From styling and shooting product to organising the latest SOTT drop, I am responsible for our entire online catalogue. You will often find me surrounded by orders doubling my height or rummaging through the store to find pieces for our latest edits.
My real interest for sustainable fashion and a circular fashion economy came from buying all my "night-out" and festival clothes from charity shops whilst at university and finding designer steals to individual pieces realising what an exciting way to shop this was. Since then, I knew that I wanted to focus my career away from the fast fashion norm.
IF YOU HAD TO WEAR THE SAME THING EVERYDAY?
Air Max trainers, a brightly patterned midi dress and some obnoxiously large gold hoop earrings.
A list lover and problem solver, I oversee everything across the business. You’ll often find me in the office at SOTT so come and say hi.
I studied Economics at Bath and founded the business the year after I graduated, after being inspired by a small store at the bottom of my road at University and some fantastic training from Lorraine at SOTT.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE SEASON?
I love Summer & Autumn. Summer for the beautiful cotton dresses and bohemian sandals. Then Autumn so I can wear all my favourite Winter clothes without actually needing something practical enough to keep me warm!
Having originally started in 2000, I have been store manager for 13 years. My job is to ensure that our customers are treated with the greatest respect, offering them the highest level of customer service possible. I have an exceptional work ethic and wealth of knowledge of the luxury retail sector which I work to instil in my team. To be honest though I really like nothing better than mucking in with the rest of the team.
I am proud to be born and bred in London. Having left school at 15 (born in August!) to pursue a career in luxury retail, I soon discovered my absolute love of fashion. This is still as strong to this day. I love my job! It makes me so happy to know that I know exactly what our clientele wants. Tailor making their outfits from head to toe with the greatest enthusiasm.
BIGGEST FASHION FAUX PAS?
Buying an emerald green net top and legging outfit from Topshop with my first pay check. I looked like a cross between a fairy and a leprechaun. I never shopped there again!
I oversee our multi-channel marketing strategy across everything from digital to in-person. My goal is to find and keep the best customers to sell and shop luxury fashion.
I was born and raised in California, but always knew I was meant to be in London. After living here for almost two years I love it (even if the weather’s better in sunny California!). I’ve been selling and buying fashion since resale marketplaces appeared in the states and I spent two years working at The RealReal in the US. I am very passionate about resale — it will revolutionise the fashion industry!
FAVOURITE SECONDHAND STEALS?
My Celine sunnies (current season!) for £180 and a pair of Chanel flats for £150. Both timeless, investment pieces!
I am an investor and sit on the board of directors. My focus is mainly on the big stuff – I keep us honest to our goals and vision. My secret confession, is that I have once or twice, secretly sneaked onto the shop floor over the years as love serving and getting to know our amazing clients. I have experienced first hand how tough it is to be a female founder and entrepreneur so now go out of my way to help other founders find their feet, I find it really rewarding. At SOTT we are perfectly placed as a team of kick ass females to grow and realise our long term goal of reinventing resale.
I love what I do and lucky enough to have worked with some of the best and brightest brains on the planet, advising disruptive, tech fuelled start-ups and high-growth organisations as they grow and scale. I am a founder, an advisor, board member, investor, mentor and entrepreneur. I founded JD & Co, one of the leading headhunting firms for high growth scaleups in the UK. My investments are driven by a strong sense of purpose. As relates to the world of fashion; I love fashion but hate fast fashion and I wanted to get more involved in being the change I want to see.
BIGGEST PRE-OWNED FASHION WIN?
I discovered The Vampire’s Wife label in 2015, bought one stunning bright red velvet dress, I still have it today and always makes me feel amazing when I wear it. I then tried to get the same dress in green but it had sold out everywhere, fast forward three years and what is hanging in my favourite shop in Chelsea (you know the one on Elystan St) – that is what I love, circular fashion in all its ‘thrill of the chase’ moments.
I work behind the scenes as part of the busy Marketing team. I create content for social media, write blogs and put together new stock emails for our customers - and if you've messaged us on Instagram it's me you've been chatting to.
I studied fashion design at University and have always loved the whole process, from design right through to production. I then went into fashion buying for two high-street retailers but I decided to move away from fast fashion and found this role at SOTT, an amazing company that shares my values. I love the message behind sustainable fashion - reduce, reuse, recycle!
IF YOU HAD TO WEAR THE SAME THING EVERYDAY?
Black jeans, trainers and an oversized jacket- it’s my staple look.
I work on the shop floor helping our lovely customers, making the store beautiful and assisting in taking items in from our sellers. I love helping customers find their dream outfits and advising them on what would suit them. You will also find me modelling on Instagram.
I'm originally from Spain however I have been in London for 3 years. I came to London looking for a job opportunity in fashion. I spent some time doing Ecommerce and marketing internships in fashion companies and working in retail. My time at SOTT has been exciting especially working alongside such a fun team.
IF YOU HAD TO WEAR THE SAME THING EVERY DAY?
A maxi or midi dresses as you can wear them for the entire season with boots or sandals.
You will find me in store at Sign of The Times, usually chatting with our lovely clients and helping them find something amazing to wear. I am also responsible for answering queries, and taking in beautiful new pieces to bring you the best of preloved luxury!
I’m a Chelsea native and I have worked at Sign Of The Times since November 2019. Prior to joining the SOTT team I was a hairdresser, and before that I completed a textiles and embroidery internship. As a hairdresser I always loved being able to make people feel confident and beautiful, and I’m so glad I still get to do that every day at SOTT. I’m very positive and outgoing, and my favourite part of working at SOTT is all of the wonderful people I get to meet and dress on a daily basis!
GO-TO FANCY DRESS OUTFIT?
It has to be Woodstock hippie - I absolutely love 60s / 70s fashion and all things retro!
I help to ensure everything runs smoothly on Sundays and Mondays, making sure all our lovely ladies can can get their in-store fashion fix 7 days a week.
I'm a textiles graduate from Manchester Metropolitan with over 30 years retail experience within a variety of roles including boutique owner, manager, area manager, visual merchandiser and stylist. I have worked for luxury brands such as Selfridges and have 18 years experience working in the preloved industry.
WHAT IS YOUR FASHION PHILOSOPHY?
Although you will find me in store wearing black, I'm a real magpie when it comes to clothes as I love bright colours, bold patterns and shiny things. Secondhand is first best in my book and it's great for our planet too!
I head up everything online, from designing the website to trade planning and analytics. I make sure that the online experience runs smoothly for our amazing customers.
I became a Website Merchandiser straight out of University 15 years ago and quickly got into Ecommerce Management. I spent 10 amazing years NET-A-PORTER, being a founding member of THE OUTNET team. When I heard Sign of the Times were going online I jumped at the chance to bring my experience to the preloved world.
FASHION GUILTY PLEASURE?
I'm a born and bred thrifter and love nothing better than hunting down a designer treasure in my much loved local charity shops in Brighton.
